And now, the Arrival outdoing the Anticipation, He comes.
To us a child is born; to us a son is given, and the rule of the universe is on his shoulders. He is called Wonderful Counsellor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He reigns on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness now and forever. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
The Spirit of Sovereign Yahweh is upon Him.
He is anointed to preach the good news to the poor. He is sent to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the Year of Yahweh’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, to provide for those who grieve in Zion–to bestow on us a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
The promise is made good. The Scripture is fulfilled even as it is read.
He is the Word made flesh, the Creator of the universe entering His Creation to reclaim to Himself those who turned their backs on Him. He is Emmanuel, God with us. He is God incarnate. He is fully God and fully Man. He is like a son of Man, and He comes with the clouds of heaven. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Look and see the Lamb who sits upon the throne.
He is the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One.
He is the King of the Jews and the Light to the Gentiles. He is the King of Love and Grace. He is the King of Eternity, who came and comes and is to come. He is the King of Alpha and Omega, of Beginning and End. He is the King of Glory, whose glory is humility. His sceptre is a shepherd’s staff. His crown is made of thorns. His palace is a stable. His chariot is the foal of a donkey. He is the Lord of the righteous and the friend of sinners. He calls us to His banqueting table and eats dinner in the homes of the fallen. He is the Servant crowned the King of Kings.
Rejoice and cry, “Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; Blessed is He whose name is the Lord.”
His name is Jesus. Yahweh saves.
He is here.
